let's play name that musical!
"sing you fools, but you got it wrong
enjoy your prayers because you haven't got long
your queen is dead, your king is through
and she's not coming back to you
show business kept us all alive
since 17 october 1945
but the star is gone, the glamour's worn thin
that's a pretty bad state for a state to be in"

Ummm
going out on a limb and guessing
Evita?
--------------------
OK, let's try something a little more upbeat...
Ripped open by metal explosion
Caught in barbed wire; fireball, bullet shock
Bayonet, electricity, shrapnel, throbbing meat
Electronic data processing
Black uniforms, bare feet, carbines
Mail order rifles shoot the muscles
And yes, kids. These are musical lyrics.
I'm guessing Hair...:)
"Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!"
Bingo, mackie. I just realized how dicey the lyrics were the other day, when my son asked to listen to an "old cassette tape." Nearly had to vault over the couch and rip out the tape when I realized I'd forgotten one of the shorter numbers. Ahem.
Do I hear the people sing?
when I'm miserable...
or especially when I've just seen Le Mis! :-)
Awesomeness points for Albie... And I picked the song cause it reminds me of one of my friends from The Sound of Music... It's because of her that I decided to read Les Miserables... The unabridged, 1496 page book.... Took me a while, well, kind of. Anyway, I do believe it is Albie's turn cause she guessed mine. Or maybe I just don't know what musical to go to now...
you guys can always create a new post about a new musical.
Or ...
We could just keep going here!
I
can't
stop
thinking about lyrics.
May need
help...
I know I've included too many lines, but this is one of my favorite songs of all time and I'm having a hard time finding a decent smaller section.
"I'm so excited because I'm gonna go to the High School of Performing Arts! I mean, I was dying to be a serious actress. Anyway, it's the first day or acting class- and we're in the auditorium and the teacher, Mr. Karp... he puts us up on the stage with our legs around each other, one in back of the other and he says: "Okay... we're going to do improvisations. Now, you're on a bobsled. It's snowing out. And it's cold...Okay...GO!"
And everybody's goin' "Whooooosh, whooooosh ... I feel the snow... I feel the cold... I feel the air."
And Mr. Karp turns to me and he says, "Okay, Morales. What did you feel?"
(sings)
And I said..."Nothing,
I'm feeling nothing,"
And he says "Nothing
Could get a girl transferred."
They all felt something,
But I felt nothing
Except the feeling
That this bulls**t was absurd!
(Spoken)
But I said to myself, "Hey, it's only the first week. Maybe it's genetic...
They don't have bobsleds in San Juan!"
you speak craziness albrecht.
No, I'm not crazy.
I do love musicals, though.
And this one is a good one.
But we'll resurrect it later.
I did jump the musical lyrics game over to Logan's BHS Dramaforum.
Rise, forum, rise! I command you to get up, pick up your mat, and go!
